Good morning to Captain and Crew alike and welcome to the Admiralty Docket. Today, an important local news update. United States Coast Guard sector Charleston has established a marine security zone around the Arthur Ravenel, Jr. Bridge during the upcoming Cooper River Bridge Run on April 5, 2014.

The zone will encompass areas on both sides of the bridge, including both the main channels and Towne Creek, and start on the Charleston Harbor side at a line running between Patriot’s Point and the Charleston Maritime Center. For those on the water during or near the start of the run, it is important to know that the Coast Guard and local law enforcement will not permit vessels to enter the security zone between 7:30 and 9:30 A.M. For more information contact Coast Guard Sector Charleston at 843-740-7050.

More next week on the Admiralty Docket. Until then, remember that your rights and responsibilities may change as you approach the shore, and may God Almighty grant you pleasant sailing.
